The president of DevS Society, Shailesh Adhikari, shared the vision of the group, “The exhibition provides students the chance to develop their theoretical understanding and implement it practically in their respective fields.”

“It’s encouraging to see students putting their heads together and working as a unit,” shared Adhikari, who believes team spirit is the biggest asset an individual, let alone a professional, can cultivate.

Emphasizing the importance of a strong sense of team identity was Ukesh Raj Bhuju, program coordinator of development studies at National College. “Our goal is to encourage students to work as a team, and use their ideas, talents and energy to focus on projects. In such a short span, some of the turnouts we’ve seen are commendable.”

The exhibition, under the theme “Nepal in 2025”, saw 12 stalls of students from different semesters presenting diverse development subjects ranging from “Rural Development 2025” to “Eco / Ethno Tourism.”

Prabritti Nepal, Wipashwee Ojha, and Upakar Pandey, the first year students who were enrolled couple of weeks ago, chipped in their thoughts on “Nepal in 2025.”

“We have envisioned a future where roads will reach every corner of the country and help in the development of essential public infrastructures that are important for sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction,” shared Nepal.

Maheshwor Giri, a third year student of Bachelor in Development presented his views on eco tourism. “We can’t overlook the importance of tourism for a country like Nepal. Its impact is not just on macro level and has considerable effect on everyone from the grassroots to the top. The government should not exclude or overlook this aspect,” Giri said.

Speaking about his experience, Giri shared that the hands-on approach of project implementation had really been a learning experience.

All praises, Srijana Bhattarai, the teacher of development economics said, “The enthusiasm is commendable, and I’m pleasantly surprised by some of the project ideas that came up during the brainstorming among the students.”

She was quick to point out, however, that students educated under Nepali education system need to brush their writing and oratory skills. “It is a complex task involving many components and skills, some of which the students may lack but can be acquired through practice.”
