The Nepali literary community observes the birth anniversary of the Mahakavi as the Laxmi Jayanti on the day of Laxmipuja, on the third day of Tihar festival, every year.Noted litterateur Basanta Kumar Nepal recalled Devkota as a pillar of the Nepali literature.
College principal Ram Prasad Dahal said the college is marking the Laxmi Jayanti every year with a great honour to his remarkable contributions to the Nepali literature.
Litterateur Dr Tulasi Bhattarai highlighted the contributions of Mahakavi to the development of Nepali literature.
Poet Devi Nepal, Madhusudan Lamichhane, and Baba Basnet recited poems dedicated to the great poet whereas folk singer Bam Bahadur Karki presented a Deusi song.
