Established by the District Development Committee (DDC) in collaboration with the district chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), the fund aims to promote competitive and development journalism in the district, said Local Development Officer Nischal Raj Pandey. A memorandum of understanding was signed by Pandey on behalf of the DDC and FNJ district President Daman Rai in this regard at a press meet in the district on Wednesday.

The proposal to set up the fund was floated by the 23rd district council meeting of the DDC that concluded on March 10. A journalist from the district writing in development issues will be honored with the 'Development Journalism Award' every year, Rai said. RSS
