“I will withdraw my resignation only if there is a package deal,” Deuba said. He had resigned from the CC on Tuesday after Koirala rejected a proposal to end the row over the dissolution of the four party wings.[break]
Deuba, however, did not elaborate what he meant by the package deal. A leader close to Deuba told Republica that the package deal would have to revoke the dissolution of sister organizations and ensure rightful share in the division of works in the party. Koirala is expected to assign responsibilities to the party leaders soon.
Koirala´s efforts to reach out to Deuba to discuss the issue have failed. A meeting of NC´s office bearers on Thursday had suggested to Koirala to personally talk to Deuba to bridge the rift that has surfaced after the dissolution of Nepal Tarun Dal, Nepal Mahila Sangh, Prajatantra Senani Sangh and Adibasi Janjati Sangh.
“He [Koirala] was supposed to talk to him [Deuba] on Wednesday. But I have not heard if he has met Deuba,” said Prakash Man Singh, general secretary of the party close to Koirala.
Meanwhile, Deuba held a meeting with the leaders of the dissolved sister organizations at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday.
According to Udaya Sumsher Rana, vice-president of the dissolved Tarun Dal, Deuba told them that he would take necessary steps after holding a meeting of district presidents after Dashain.
“He told us that he has been fighting to end the practice of getting the elected wings dissolved by the party,” Rana said.
