Deuba returns home from India

KATHMANDU, June 14: Former Prime Minister and senior Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba returned home on Friday after a six-day official visit to India.



“The fresh Constituent Assembly elections would make people sovereign. So let´s have elections,” Deuba told media persons upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Deuba said he would hold talks with the disgruntled parties, including the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and Upendra Yadav-led Madheshi People´s Rights Forum-Nepal.



“I will talk to Baidya and Yadav. They have to take part in the election,” he said. During his stay in the Indian capital New Delhi, he held a series of meetings with various Indian political leaders, including the president of the United Progressive Alliance, Sonia Gandhi, Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Minister for External Affairs Salman Khursid.



Meanwhile, senior leader of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli has left for Delhi on Friday afternoon on a-four day India visit. Talking to media persons at the reporters at TIA, Oli said that his visit would be purely personal as he is visiting India for his health check-up.
