A meeting of the NC District Working Committee on Thursday endorsed Deuba’s name without contest, according to district president Bhim Bahadur Saund. Deuba, who has recently told visiting party leaders and cadres that he intends to contest his “final election” from Dadeldhura, secured the lone recommendation effortlessly.

Deuba remains the only political leader in Nepal to have contested — and won — every election since 1992. He has secured victory from Dadeldhura in the 1991, 1994 and 1999 parliamentary elections; the 2008 and 2013 Constituent Assembly polls; and the 2017 and 2022 parliamentary elections — seven consecutive wins. He also won from Kanchanpur-4 in 2008 and Kailali-6 in 2013.
