KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Nepali Army is set to be deployed three months ahead of the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5. Citing concerns over weak law and order conditions, the government plans the early deployment to ensure a secure environment for the polls.
President Ramchandra Paudel has already approved the army’s deployment for election security. Accordingly, preparations are underway to begin from mid-December.

A cabinet meeting held on November 24 recommended the deployment of Nepali Army to the President. Earlier on November 20, the National Security Council had proposed the army deployment to the Cabinet.
President Paudel approved the cabinet’s recommendation on Thursday, according to President’s Office Spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Koirala.
