The book was jointly inaugurated by Dr Pratyoush Onta, nephew of martyr Shukraraj Shastri Sanu Raja Joshi, Nepal Bhushan Chand, nephew of Dashrath Chand, Martyr Dharma Bhakta Mathema’s daughter Renu Mathema Shrestha, and the author himself. [break]
Speaking at the event, Dr Onta remarked, “The book has nine chapters and it basically speaks of the achievements of the late Ganesh Man Singh, an influential leader. It speaks of the awakening of the people and their attempts to gain power in pre-democratic Nepal.”
Similarly, Prashant Shrestha, grandson of martyr Gangalal Shrestha opined, “Our history says that we Nepalis have the capabilities and courage to do a lot for the benefit of our country. Since the book is based on the historical incidences, it will serve as an inspiration to many.”
Talking about the message he has tried to convey through the book, the author shared about his vision to encourage fellow Nepalis to know themselves and their country better. “Our country’s history shows us who we are,” he stated, adding that he wrote the book because most historical books, he feels, contain many distorted facts.
Mahendra Man Singh has been actively involved in the Nepali politics, and is a known face in the corridors of power – both in the now deposed monarchy and in the Nepali Congress. He also writes extensively on socio-political issues of Nepal on leading Nepali newspapers.
