The households at Thalthale bazaar at the junction of ward 5 and 6 of Ankhisalla VDC have been facing the blackout for three weeks. [break]The electricity authority had taken away the failed transformer for repair but has yet to install it back to restore the power supply, according to a local Manoj Rai.
Rai informed that people are relying on kerosene lamps and are visiting neighboring village Sukeaahal at ward 4 to recharge their electric gadgets. The 250 households in the area have been left without electricity since September 26 after the transformer of 50 watt capacity that supplied electricity to them broke down.
Similarly, 150 households of Chanuwa VDC´s ward 3 and 4 have been struggling in the dark since 11 days after the transformer in their locality stopped functioning. VDC secretary Ram Kumar Dangol informed that Nepal Electricity Authority is yet to replace the transformers despite repeated requests from the locals.
Likewise, a transformer at Kajimane bazaar that provided electricity to Takhuwa and Telia VDCs burnt down due to high power circulation a week ago, leaving over 3 dozen houses without power supply.
A social mobilizer, Shankar Ojha informed that the NEA hasn´t sent a technician to repair the transformer even after a week.
Meanwhile, the households at ward 5 of Teliya VDC are living in the darkness due to low power supply.
NEA, Dhankuta, informed that transformers of Ankhisalla and Chanuwa have been sent to the workshop in Biratnagar for repair, but that it couldn´t tell when the transformers would be sent back.
NEA Administration Officer, Rohit Dhamal informed that delays for the most part is caused because of the busy schedule of its technicians.
