KATHMANDU, March 10: Defence Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said the government is minutely studying and analysing all kinds of activities that might have been directed against Nepal's national interests.

He said this speaking at the concluding function of the advanced training on security conducted at the Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri today.

"It is seen that various groups are making ill-attempts to undermine Nepal's territorial integrity and unity," he said, adding that the government and the people of Nepal will foil any such attempts by any individual, group or party.

Minister Khand also stressed that the national interest of the country and the people could be best protected through nationality, unity, strong territorial integrity and the democratic system itself.

He said the national security policy passed by the government will provide the guidelines for the identification, protection and preservation of Nepal's national interest. The Defence Minister also shared that a national defence policy was also being worked out based on the national security policy.

Minister Khand underlined that the national security is not only the responsibility of the Army and the police but it equally depended on the collective efforts of the government and the people.

College chief, Major General Debendra Medhasi said the College has given priority and has been conducting advanced training on matters of national security to the representatives of all the security bodies and the line ministries.

Eighteen persons including the Under Secretary level civil servants and the First Class officers of the Nepalese Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department, attended the 10-day training this year. RSS
