'Decisions of people's govt are pro-people'

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Minister for Local Development Top Bahadur Rayamajhi has urged the opposition parties not to fume against the government decision to legalize the land dealing transactions of the people´s government as the decisions taken by the people´s government during insurgency were in favor of people.



Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters´ Club on Monday, Minister Rayamajhi said the people´s government took such decisions during the insurgency as people from remote areas could not visit the district headquarters for land related administrative works and the decisions were taken to facilitate the locals. Minister Rayamajhi said, "Protests of opposition NC and UML over the government decision to legalize the war-time land dealings carry on mosses. Their stance to obstruct the House proceedings is not farsighted."



Similarly, though the protests against price hike in petroleum products were accepted, it was the obligation of All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary, Maoist affiliated student union, to protest the price hike decision, Rayamajhi said.



However, Minister for Law Brijesh Kumar Gupta said the government is planning to withdraw the decisions of legalizing the land dealing transactions carried out by people´s government.



Gupta said he was absent in the meeting of the Council of Ministers on the day cabinet decided to legalize the wartime land dealing transactions and added problems was created after the cabinet took such decisions though he had informed about the possible difficulties. He said, "Deadlock in the Legislature-Parliament should be ended by withdrawing the decision at the earliest."



Also speaking on the occasion, Nepali Congress leader Dip Kumar Upadhyay said the NC would continue obstruction of House proceedings until the decision was withdrawn.



Likewise, UML leader Shankar Pokhrel said that the government´s move to legalize the land transactions dealing was against the constitution and past agreements signed by the parties.
