Death toll due to leopard attack reaches 14 in Baitadi

KHALANGA, Baitadi, Oct 17: The number of people who died from leopard attack has reached 14 in a short span of time in Baitadi district.



Parbati Chand , 29, of Aamchaura VDC- 8 is the latest victim of the leopard attack. A leopard attacked her while she was on the way to her home from her maternal home on Tuesday evening.[break]



Serial attacks of leopard are taking place at Tallo Sworad in the district, said Police Inspector Lal Bahadur Saud.



Following the death of Chand by the leopard attack, 45 armed police personnel and 32 Nepal Police personnel have been deputed in Tallo Sworad to ensnare the leopard and kill it.



A total of eight people had lost their lives in leopard attacks from August to October alone. Likewise, leopards killed three people in the first week of October.

A meeting of the District Security Committee recently decided to ask for security bodies´ help to kill the leopard.



Three minors- Manju Chand, 8, Santosh Chand,7, and Priyanka Chand, 4, were killed in the serial incidents of leopard attack from October 3 to 7.



All the victims of leopard attack are from the families residing on the banks of the Mahakali River. Security in Tallo Sworad area has been beefed up following the leopard menace, it is learnt.
