Her family members and relatives have not been able to muster enough courage to inform her about the death thinking it could devastate her. Puja has been eagerly waiting for her beloved husband to return home from Australia.[break]
“We have received the message of his death,” said Amar Bahadur, the deceased´s brother. “However, we have told Puja that it was just a minor accident. She has been praying for his quick recovery. We have not been able to disclose the news to her,” he said.
The Khadka family has decided to reveal the news to Puja only after Rajesh his cremated in Australia.
According to Amar, the Non-residential Nepal Contact Society Baglung in Australia has suggested them better not to try to bring the dead body to Nepal due to inconvenient legal process.
“The baglung society in Australia has informed us that they are preparing to conduct his last rites,” Amar said.
Rajesh, who had left behind his wife, now has a son who was born soon after he left. “Rohan will never be able to see his father. He was so eager to meet him,” said Durga Bahadur Khadka, the deceased´s father. “Never in my dreams had I thought that life would be so cruel at this stage,” he added.
Sadly, this is not the first time that Durga Bahadur lost his son.
“Two of my five sons had died earlier,” said the bereaved father.
The woes of Khadka family is further compounded by the fact that Rajesh had not yet sent money to pay back the debt he had taken to go to Australia.
“Rs 1.7 million was spent on the entire process. He said he had not got a good job,” said Amar. “We sent Rs 500,000 later to help him prolong his visa. And now we have to see this day,” he lamented.
