KHOTANG, Sept 18: Two days after the burial of a deceased person, police in Khotang dug out the dead body for postmortem following requests from the neighbors.

Family members had buried the body of Bhim Bahadur Rai, 45, of Diprung Chuichamcha Rural Municipality-1, Yamkha on Thursday. However, after being informed by the neighbors that he was actually poisoned, police have started investigation into the case. Police dug out the body on Saturday for postmortem, informed Rajkumar KC, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office (DPO), Khotang.

After grilling the family members for three days, police decided to dig the grave to find out the actual reason behind Rai's death.

"We deployed a police team led by Inspector of the DPO for the investigation," said DSP KC. The body has been sent to District Hospital, Diktel for the postmortem. Rai died on September 13. While the family members claim that Rai died a natural death, neighbors say he was poisoned.
