DDA inspectors said those pharmacies were involved in unfair practices.[break]
A DDA inspection team had ordered the closure of 38 pharmacies in the third quarter of the last fiscal year.
The drugs regulator said seven of the pharmacies shut down were operating in different locations in Kathmandu.
Nine pharmacies in Tanahau were also shut.
Similarly, 11 pharmacies in Nuwakot, three in Kaski, seven in Sindhupalchowk, and one in Kavrepalanchowk district were shut down.
The DDA had inspected pharmacies in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dhading, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Kavrepalanchowk, Syangja, Kaski, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Manang, Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi, Dolakha, Ramechap, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Makawanpur, and Rupandehi districts.
Altogether 39 pharmacies faced DDA suspension last year. The drugs regulator said those pharmacies were found selling drugs without proper drugs purchase papers.
Similarly, the pharmacies were fund selling drugs meant for free distribution at the government health institutions.
The DDA has warned 221 pharmacies where certified pharmacists were absent and those that had not renewed their pharmacy licenses.
The DDA says that some pharmacies were found storing drugs in poor conditions while some did not have proper records of the narcotic drugs in their stock.
