KATHMANDU, Feb 8: A meeting of the working committee formed by National Sports Council held on Thursday has announced the dates and the venues to play selection matches of the Eighth National Games.
However, questions about organizing of the tournament have still remained unanswered as the meeting couldn’t decide the date for the regular tournament.
The date for the regular Eighth National Games was not finalized as the time required to construct the VIP Parapet of the Nepalgunj Stadium, the venue for the games, was undecided.

The duration needed to construct the stadium’s infrastructure became unclear as the materials for the parapet construction was stopped at India’s Kolkata port.
The meeting held to resolve the same issue could only announce the dates and venue for the selection of the Eighth National Games, but not for the regular tournament.
The selection matches for Province 1 will be played in Biratnagar on February 19, while the matches for Province 2 will be held in Birgunj on February 17. Province 3 will organize the matches in Chitwan on February 18, while the Province 4 matches will be played in Pokhara on February 16.
Likewise, Nepalgunj will organize the Province 5 matches on February 23, while Karnali Province will organize in Surkhet on February 25. The opening matches will be played in Far-Western’s Dhangadhi on February 15.
Likewise, the districts have proposed the slots for the players and the number of matches to be played for the Provincial selections. The meeting has decided to demand a total budget of Rs 470 million for the tournament from the Ministry of Finance.
