RANJHA, April 18: Well-equipped sports infrastructures have been developed in Banke at the investment of Rs 480 million in view of the 8th National Games.
Among the sports infrastructures recently developed include sophisticated football ground, swimming pool, covered hall, weight lifting academy, shooting range, and athletics track, judo hall, international cricket ground and volleyball stadium.
Works to upgrade Nepalgunj Stadium in full swing
Nepalgunj stadium has been constructed in Banke at higher investment. Total budget of Rs 240 million has been made available for the construction of the stadium.
The football ground and VIP parapet are being constructed at the cost of Rs 60 million and Rs 180 million, respectively, informed Bhim Oli, Chairperson of Mid-Western Regional Sports Development Committee State-5. He further shared that Bermuda grass was planted in Nepalgunj stadium to make it comfortable for football match. In addition to football ground, swimming pool, shooting range and weight lifting academy are being built on the stadium premises.
Keshab Kumar Bista, member-secretary of National Sports Council said it is so far the biggest investment being made in sports infrastructure in its history in view of the 8th National Games.
It is also the first time that Nepalgunj is hosting the mega sports events for the first time in the history on such a big investment.
