KATHMANDU, Dec 27: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Kamal Thapa, has stressed that the government should announce date for local polls based on a political consensus among political parties.
At a women's gathering organized by National Democratic Women's Organization, close to the RPP, here on Tuesday, Chairman Thapa said that the government should devote itself in constitution implementation by holding election of three-tiers in the slated date.
Saying that the new constitution has guaranteed participation of women to increase their representation, he expressed the view that the party has given priority to the issues concerning women.
Chairman Thapa further said that works of the people have not been carried out in an easy and smooth manner for lack of representatives at local bodies.
Similarly, RPP National Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana stressed that the government should work for formulating laws required for elections.
Likewise, Party Organization Chief Kunti Shahi laid emphasis on increasing representation of women in local polls, saying there would always be remarkable contribution of women in development of the country. RSS
