KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Shiwani Neupane shared her journey at the 37th session of ‘Cheers Talk,’ a program organized by Cheers Nepal, a youth led organization, at DECC Hall, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Neupane, writer of two books, ‘Monica: Pieces of Perfect (2012)’, and ‘Crossing Shadows (2015)’ firmly believes that failures define who we are and we should always take them as lessons to perform better in life.
She shared her tips to be a good writer and the various failures of her own. She says during her undergraduate years a professor had asked her to drop her English as her major subject, seeing her more diverted towards Political Science and International Relations. “Had I accepted my professor’s advice and dropped out from my major, I wouldn’t have been able to make this far in literature,” she said, advising the youths present in the program that they shouldn’t be taking advice without properly thinking through.
Sharing about writing novels, she said that it’s countless hours of writing, editing, and more. “The journey is very long. And there are also moments of doubt whether it really ends up being a readable book or not. But you should continue if you are really passionate about it,” she added.
Neupane said that one must be a good reader, and should find time to read books. “I read the news in the morning, and read books before I go to bed at night. Also, I do take a book along wherever I go so that I can read whenever I have free time,” Neupane shared her reading habits.
‘Cheers Talk’ is a program conducted every month and this event was attended by more than one hundred people.
