KATHMANDU, Nov 15: The death toll in a jeep accident that took place in Darchula has reached eight, while five others have sustained injuries.
Prakash Dahal, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, Darchula said that the number of people killed in the jeep accident has reached eight following the additional death of two injured people.

According to DSP Dahal the deceased have been identified as Dilip Bista, 45 and Mina Lekhak, 40, of Shailyashikhar Municipality-9; Birendra Rawal of Ward No-5 Lekgaun; Shanti Rawal, 25, Birendra Bohora, 50, and Sujib Bohora, 16, of Dilasaini Rural Municipality-5 of Baitadi. Additionally, Mohammad Shakir, 45, from Uttar Pradesh, India, and Mohammad Osil, 18, from Mejawat, India, are also among the deceased.
The driver of the jeep, Sunil Joshi of Malikarjun Rural Municipality-8, sustained serious injuries on his head, while Prakash Rawal, 22, whose address is not disclosed yet, Uttam Rokaya of Dilashaini Rural Municipality-5, Sandeep Rawal of Shailyashikhar Municipality and Rohin Shah of India has been brought to Gokuleshwor Hospital, Dhangadi for treatment, DSP Dahal said. The injured individuals were rescued by the Nepal Army chopper and brought to the hospital.
The jeep (Ma 1 Ja 338) carrying pilgrims returning from the festival at the local Malikarjun Temple, met with the accident at Bakjebala in Shailyashikhar Municipality-6 at around 4 am on Friday.
