KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The Kathmandu District Administration on Tuesday issued prohibitory orders banning gatherings and protests around the president´s office, vice-president´s office, and prime minister´s official residence, among other places, effective from Wednesday.

Chief District Officer Ratna Raj Pandey said the order includes Singh Durbar and its periphery, apart from the Constituent Assembly building. [break]

Incidentally, the prohibitory order comes as seven fringe parties are preparing to enforce a nation-wide strike decrying the move to extend Constituent Assembly term for another six more months.

The Tharuhat Tarai Party, Tamuwan Rastriya Parishad, Magarat Rastriya Council, Tamang Ekata Manch, Nepal Nationalist Party, Nepal Nationalist Yuwa Dal, and Khasan Rastriya Council have threatened to enforce a nationwide shutdown on Wednesday.

Police intervened in their gathering at Bhotahiti on Tuesday from where they were planning to take out a torch rally. Police rounded up 18 people, including Laxman Tharu and PL Singh.
