"His visit has been scheduled for July 14 to 18 on the invitation from the Indian government," confirmed his personal aide Chudamani Khadka. During his visit, Dahal is likely to hold bilateral meetings with Indian President Pranab Mukharjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said party leaders. Other meetings have not been fixed yet, said Khadka.
Dahal is set to be accompanied by his personal secretary, said a source. Dahal has been invited by the southern neighbor at a time when deliberations on the draft of the new constitution is in full swing."The invitation indicates that India considers Dahal as a key person in the changed political context," claimed UCPN (Maoist) foreign department member Yubaraj Chaulagain.
However, leaders from various political parties smell rat over Dahal's visit, especially as the invitation comes at a time when some disgruntled political parties are knocking the doors of the Indian embassy in Kathmandu seeking its role in persuading major political parties to address their agendas.
Political parties are yet to finalize the time to be taken for public feedback on the new constitution.
