He explained that he was for giving the current government some more months despite its "dillydallying over fixing the election date" because it was as per his own proposal that the interim election government under the leadership of sitting Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi was formed.[break]
"We will be seeking an alternative to the present government only after mid-December because it was formed under the circumstances when there was no other option," a Maoist leader quoted Dahal as saying at the closed-door orientation for Maoist cadres at Dharke village. According to the leader, Dahal, however, expressed his dissatisfaction over the government´s delay in fixing the election date. "The chairman explained that he is for waiting until mid-December because the party is not for taking to the street against the same government that was formed as per our party´s proposal," said the leader preferring anonymity. The UCPN (Maoist) had endorsed a proposal to form election government under the leadership of sitting chief justice at the party´s general convention held in Hetauda in February.
Dahal argued that other parties were trying to defer polls seeing a nationwide election wave in favor of the Maoist party. He instructed the party rank and file to concentrate all energy on the upcoming elections.
The party´s spokesman Agni Sapkota claimed that holding polls in summer is possible if the preparatory works are done on a war-footing. Sapkota said that the party chairman´s emphasis is on ensuring election in November if not in June.
According to Tamsanling State Committee Coordinator Bishwabhakta Dulal, around 900 party members are taking part in the orientation given by top leaders including Dahal and Vice-chairmen Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shreshta.
