Nembang urged Maoist Chairman Dahal to make the election scheduled for August 2 ´result-oriented´ and also asked him to be prepared for adopting alternative ways if no one is elected on that date.
Talking to media persons, Maoist Chairman Dahal said his party is working to forge consensus with other parties to elect a new prime minister on August 2.
“We believe that the country would a get new prime minister on Monday [August 2],” he said. “I have suggested that it would better to hold discussions as to what to do next if the next election also failed to pick a prime minister.”
During the meeting, Speaker Nembang told Dahal that the delay in the formation of new government had put the country in a difficult situation as the country is yet to get budget and prepare plan and policies for the new fiscal year that began in mid-July.
In response, Dahal had said that all these problems will be settled once a new government under Maoist leadership is formed. He had said that the Maoist-led government would also expedite the ongoing peace process and prepare bases for the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants within three weeks.
The issue of the formation of State Restructuring Commission (SRC) also featured during the meeting.
Though the big three parties -- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML -- agreed to form the commission comprising seven experts from related fields, the parties have failed to give shape to the body entrusted to provide suggestion for carving out federal state structure.
Meanwhile, the speaker also held meeting with Tarai-Madhes Democratic Party leader Hriyadesh Tripathi on Saturday.
