SURKHET, Sept 7: Chairman of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has refuted news reports about his definition of civilian supremacy. On Monday, speaking at a program in Biratnagar, Dahal was reported to have said that civilian supremacy meant gun for everyone.

“I had said that there should be guns in people´s hands. But media distorted it,” Dahal said. He said what he meant was that the army should act as desired by the people. “The guns whether that of the army or the Maoist army should be used as directed by the people,” Dahal clarified.

Addressing a mass meeting in Birendranagar, Dahal said the ongoing struggle of his party was just a rehearsal for the movement ahead.
