Cycle rally journeys to seven World Heritage Site monuments

KATHMANDU, April 18: A cycle rally was held to mark the World Heritage Day making a maiden voyage to the seven constituent monument sites coalescing to form the Kathmandu Valley - one of two World Heritage Sites in the country on Saturday.

The cycle rally held by the 'Tour De Lumbini Peddle For Peace' went around the seven monument sites bearing historic, religious, cultural significance and equally important in terms of tourism industry.


The 'Heritage Cycle Rally' has been organized for the first time to promote tourism through popularity of the cultural heritage sites in the valley, said the organizing group's General Secretary Rajendra Thapa.

The rally which took off from Durbar Marg traversed a total of around 60 km reaching Changunarayan in Bhaktapur located at north-eastern corner, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Square, Basantapur among other historic monuments and palaces before returning to the starting point. RSS
