KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the present government will be ruthless against those involved in corruption. 

Prime Minister Dahal said this while addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 32nd Anniversary of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Prime Minister Dahal said that corruption control is indispensable to enhance the welfare of citizens and maintain good governance. He expressed his belief that this organization, established as a constitutional body, will conduct investigations against corruption and irregularities in an independent, fair and fearless manner to maintain good governance through the prevention of corruption.

PM Dahal said, ”Corruption control is indispensable to enhance the interests of the citizens and maintain good governance. This organization, established as a constitutional body, will proceed with determination to maintain good governance through the prevention of corruption by investigating corruption and irregularities in an independent, fair and fearless manner and bringing the culprits to justice."

Prime Minister Dahal said that government in its policy priority and common minimum program envisages to strengthen agencies involved in corruption control such as the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority by empowering them with laws, manpower, resources and tools to control corruption and ensure morals, and investigate and investigate matters related to corruption and abuse of authority. He said that the current government's commitment to take legal action against some corrupt people is a top priority.

Prime Minister Dahal said, 'In the policy priorities and common minimum program of the government, the agencies involved in corruption control such as the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority should be empowered with laws, manpower, resources and tools to control corruption and ensure morals and investigate and investigate issues related to corruption and abuse of authority at any time. The current government has prioritized the commitment to take legal action against corruption and anyone who is corrupt.

Prime Minister Dahal also pledged all kinds of assistance and support to the CIAA on behalf of the government to efficiently fulfill the responsibilities given to the anti-graft body by the constitution of Nepal with the aim of building a corruption-free and virtuous society. He said that the government is sensitive to maintaining simplicity, accessibility and transparency in administrative services including basic services such as education, health, drinking water, sanitation, national identity card, citizenship, passport and driver's license.

"With the aim of building a corruption-free and virtuous society, the commission will receive all kinds of support and support from the government in order to efficiently fulfill the responsibilities given to the commission by the Constitution of Nepal," said Dahal. "From basic services such as education, health, drinking water, sanitation, national identity card, citizenship, the government has been very sensitive to maintaining simplicity, accessibility and transparency in administrative services including passports and driver's licenses.”

Dahal claimed that an action plan has been formulated to reduce the delay, harassment and unfair transactions that may occur in service delivery by reducing the direct contact between the service provider and the customer through the maximum use of information technology to enhance morality in the public agencies that provide services. He said that as a supporter of the United Nations against corruption, the government of Nepal is determined to fulfill its national commitment while showing solidarity in the global effort against corruption.

"In order to increase morals in the public authorities that provide services, through the maximum use of information technology, work has been started by making an action plan to minimize the delay, harassment and unfair transactions that may occur in service delivery by reducing the direct contact between the service provider and the service recipient. I also want to say that the current government will be ruthless against corruption.', he said.

Prime Minister Dahal also said that necessary efforts will be made by the government to pass the new Act by the Parliament within this year by making contemporary amendments to the Prevention of Corruption Act 2059 BS and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act which are currently in force for the full implementation of the matters mentioned in the Convention.

Prime Minister Dahal directed the public officers and national service officers to fulfill their responsibilities honestly, considering the needs of the citizens as the most important by adopting zero tolerance to corruption and maintaining good governance through improvement in public service delivery.
