Lack of CT-scan service at government hospital means that patients have to pay hefty fees to get the same service at private centers.
“We have repeatedly requested the DHS to provide us technicians who can run the machine but to no avail,” Dr Narendra Kumar Raya, medical superintendent of the hospital, said.
According to Raya, 10 employees including three radiologists are needed to bring the machine into operation and provide the service.
The employees working at the hospital say that the DHS earned huge commission from the costly machine but have shown no concern to provide manpower.
