Crimes down in Kathmandu Valley during Dashain: Police

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The crime rate in the Kathmandu Valley, according to the Metropolitan Police Office, Rani Pokhari, was downward this Dashain festival compared to the last one. 


The Office record showed that cases of burglary, gambling, fraud, kidnapping and suicide were less in comparison to Dashain period last year.

Office Chief and Deputy Inspector of General Police (DIG) Sailesh Thapa shared that 86 cases were registered in Kathmandu, 30 in Lalitpur and 15 in Bhaktapur during October 9, the beginning of the 10-day Festival to the concluding day October 24. 


DIG Thapa evaluated, "Police discharged their duties as per the 82-point Home Administration Reform Plan and 10-point programmes of the Inspector General of Police which largely contributed to the decline in the cases of crime during this festival in comparison to the last year." 


Last year, altogether 124 criminal cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 22 in Bhaktapur and 8 in Lalitpur, police said. RSS
