Police arrest Wala among listed 122 hooligans in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, April 7: Metropolitan Police Crime Division arrested Yogendra Lama Wala on Friday on the charge of extortion.

According to the division, Police arrested him from Lazimpat area after he was found involved in acquiring money forcefully from some businessmen.

The division also said that the Wala is a notorious hooligan involved in various crimes. According to the division, Wala was involved in fatal attack on Sitaram Shrestha and Subas Raut some three years ago. Likewise, Wala was at large after police found his involvement in looting incident some five years ago in Bauddha, Kathmandu.

The division and the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu have been looking for 122 hooligans involved in various crimes. The Police have launched a special campaign to arrest these gangsters dividing them into four categories.

According to the division, there are 12 hooligans in category A as they are found involved in criminal activities by mobilizing organized groups. Deepak Gurung aka Manange, Samirman Basnet, Milan Gurung aka Chakre, Raju Gorkhali, Ganesh Lama and Rose Rana are listed in the first category. While the second category includes 30 hooligans including Ramesh Sunuwar and Sanjeev Lama, there are 47 hooligans in the third category and 33 in the fourth category.

Launching the special operation, Police have already arrested Kumar Gole, Min Lama, Nani Babu Thapa, Sagar Thapa, Karma Ghale, Jack Gurung, Kote Gurung, Poonam Karki, Sashanka Shrestha and Moon Lama so far in a week time.
