Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan returns to India

Dhawan scored a half-century in one of the four matches he played. While scoring 74 not out against Kathmandu Gurkhas, he contributed 45 runs against Chitwan Rhinos and 14 runs against Janakpur Bolts, totaling 136 runs in four matches.

KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise team Karnali Yaks have bid farewell to former Indian national cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan.


Dhawan has returned to India after Karnali Yaks manager, coach and players bid farewell to Dhawan at the Hotel Hilton on Monday.


Shikhar Dhawan had come to Nepal with an agreement to play at least four matches for Karnali Yaks in the NPL.

Karnali Yaks played the fourth match on Sunday. The team bid farewell to Dhawan after he announced that he would be unable to continue playing due to knee issues.


Dhawan, who retired from both international and domestic cricket following the IPL, stated that he has not fully recovered from his injury.  Dhawan arrived in Nepal on November 29. He participated in the NPL inauguration and also visited Pashupatinath.


Dhawan was dismissed for 5 runs while opening in his last match against Biratnagar. He was bowled by Pratish Gharti Chhetri of Biratnagar. Along with this, Chhetri became the first Nepali bowler to take the wicket of Dhawan.

While playing against Janakpur, Canadian all-rounder Harsh Thaker took his wicket and Loftie-Eaton took Dhawan’s wicket in Karnali Yaks’ match against Chitwan Rhinos.
