A team of policemen deputed from the Mangalbare Police Post arrested Limbu from his in-law´s house at Mangalbare.
The CPN-Maoist Ilam District Committee has denounced the arrest, saying Limbu was arrested while on a family visit to his relatives. It described the arrest as extra-judicial.
CPN-Maoist district in-charge Kanchha Lama said the party would strongly retaliate against the high-handed attitude of the administration.
Police, however, said that Limbu was held for questioning. The local leaders of the CPN-Maoist and the Limbuwan Rajya Parishad, which are opposing the CA election, have gone underground after police started arresting their leaders.
