The decision of the CPN-Maoist to boycott talks comes in the wake of HLPC meeting Thursday inviting them for talks Friday morning. “We can hold talks with HLPC only if the four major parties agree to dissolve the CJ-led election government,” said CPN-Maoist Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.[break]
Bhusal said even if HLPC agreed to dissolve the CJ-led government, they would first need to hold a meeting with 32 other political parties in their alliance.
The HLPC meeting held Thursday morning in New Baneshwar had decided to hold talks with the disgruntled Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist and Upendra Yadav-led Madhesi People´s Rights Forum Nepal to settle differences with regard to the current election government and upcoming elections.
Among other things, the meeting had decided hold consultations with the chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers on making appointments in the National Planning Commission (NPC) and addressing concerns raised by various fringe parties over some of the provisions in the draft ordinances on amendments to election related Acts.
