CPN-Maoist enforces transport strike in Dang

DANG, Nov 10: The CPN-Maoist on Sunday enforced a transport strike here in the district targeting UCPN (Maoist) leaders’ visit in the district.



CPN-Maoist called for a transport strike in the district to thwart the election campaign programs which the UCPN (Maoist) chairman and other leaders are scheduled to attend today.[break]



Top leaders of the party including Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha are set to arrive in Dang today as part of party’s Mechi-Mahalkali Awareness Campaign.



They are also set to address the mass assemblies to be organized in Ghorahi and Tulsipur of the district.



Transport service on the national highway and other roads is closed due to the strike, causing inconvenience to the people.



Though short-route transport and motorcycle have been party playing on the road in the city area, long-route transport services have been completely closed. According to CPN-Maoist, the transport strike which begun at 7 am today, will end at 2 this afternoon.



Similarly, massive security personnel have been mobilized in the district in view of UCPN (Maoist) leaders´ visit to the district.



Likewise, earlier in the morning, the cadres of CPN-Maoist had obstructed the road by felling the trees at Kalakote section of the east-West Highway as per their program of barring the leaders of the four major parties from entering the districts.



But, police have already removed the trees from the road.



Meanwhile, police have recovered a socket bomb at Ranighat Khola near Tulsaipur along the Ghorahai-Tulasipur road this morning. A Nepal Army bomb disposal team defused the bomb, said DSP Tul Bahadur karki at Area police office Tulasipur chief.
