KATHMANDU, July 24: Politburo member of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC), Yuan Jiajun, and the Chinese delegation led by him and CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders have held a meeting in Kathmandu on Sunday evening.
During the meeting, they talked about various dynamics of the communist parties of Nepal and China. The Maoist Centre's leaders appreciated the cooperation extended by China to Nepal in its development endeavors and urged China to consider extending cooperation in other areas in future.
The talks between the delegation of the visiting CPC leader and Maoist Centre's leaders also touched on further strengthening party-to-party, government-to-government and people-to-people relations, according to Dinanath Sharma, secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre).
Visiting CPC delegation meets leaders of rival faction of NCP
Stating that the model of socialism embraced by China could be emulated by Nepal, the Maoist Centre's leaders emphasized that China should support Nepal in its journey towards socialism.
They said that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'-led government was focused on the prosperity of the country and viewed that China's cooperation towards this would be very important.
The visiting Chinese delegation, on the occasion, assured to continue with China's assistance to Nepal in future, said party secretary Sharma. The Chinese delegation emphasized that the relations between the two countries at the government-to-government, party-to-party and people-to-people level should be further consolidated.
Present in the meeting were Acting Chairperson of CPN (Maoist Centre) and Deputy Prime Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Vice-Chairperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Agni Sapkota and General-Secretary Dev Prasad Gurung among others.
Earlier, the visiting CPC leader had called on President Ram Chandra Paude during which the two had discussed the issues of bilateral interests and further strengthening mutual ties between Nepal and China.
Meanwhile, the visiting CPC leader had held a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Dahal who is currently in Rome to attend the United Nations Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment (UNFSS+2) to be held there from July 24 to July 26.
Chinese leader Yuan also paid a courtesy call on Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Purna Bahadur Khadka on Sunday itself.
The CPC leader arrived in Nepal on Sunday on a three-day visit.
