BIRATNAGAR, June 18: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has underscored the need to form national unity government for the implementation of the constitution, holding the local bodies' election and carrying out post-quake reconstruction operation.

Speaking with the media persons at Biratnagar Airport in Biratnagar, Morang district on Saturday, leader Dahal argued that it is only the national consensus government that could address political stalemate in the country.

Dahal, also former Prime Minister, spoke of the need to bring in board Nepali Congress, the major opposition, and dissenting Madhes-centric political parties to hold the election of the local bodies long overdue.

He asserted that the environment conducive for election could not be created until the Madhes related issues are resolved.

Furthermore, Dahal also underlined forging a consensus among the major political parties for formulation of new acts and amendment of existing ones to bring the new national statute into effect.

Clarifying that his party had no objection with the local bodies' poll, he said that the government should be serious towards creating favorable environment for the same.

Chair Dahal clarified that rewriting of the constitution was impossible. He also said that the Tarai issues could be resolved by amending the constitution.

Leader Dahal urged Tarai-centric leaders not to raise constitution rewriting issues as such issues may create trouble while implementing the constitution. RSS
