Courts suspends ANFA election process

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Patan High Court has issued directives to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to suspend its election process until October 21. The election to choose ANFA president and vice president is scheduled for October 24.

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Patan High Court has issued directives to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to suspend its election process until October 21. The election to choose ANFA president and vice president is scheduled for October 24.

Acting on a writ petition filed by former ANFA General Secretary Lok Bahadur Shahi and former FIFA assistant referee Binod KC, the single bench of justice Prem Raj Karki issued such order.


The High Court has called both the sides for discussion on October 21. The ANFA election committee had announced the election of the football governing body for October 24 to replace suspended President Ganesh Thapa and late vice president Lalit Krishna Shrestha. Thapa was banned by FIFA, the apex international football governing body, for 10 years.
