KATHMANDU, June 20: The elections for the leader of the Nepali Congress´ parliamentary party has concluded and the counting of ballots started at around 5 p.m. Saturday, our correspondent Kosh Raj Koirala reported. The election began a little after 2 p.m.
Four candidates -- Sher Bahadur Deuba, Ram Chandra Poudel, K B Gurung and Suprabha Ghimire -- are in the fray.

Earlier, they filed their nominations at the NC PP office at Singha Durbar on Saturday morning. [break]
Former prime minister Deuba´s nomination was proposed by Gopal Man Shrestha, Bimalendra Nidhi and Ramesh Rijal and seconded by Kavita Sardar, Kalpana Sob and Shambhu Hajara. [break]
Party vice-president Poudel´s nomination was proposed by Prakash Man Shrestha, Ram Krishna Yadav and Ajay Dwivedi, and Pramila Rai, Birendra Kumar Majhi and Ganesh Bahadur Khadka seconded it.
Another candidate -- general secretary Gurubng -- was proposed by NC chief whip Laxman Ghimire, Lalita Kingring Magar and Harshajit Lama; Nirmala Prasai, Hira Gurung and Lila Subba seconded Gurung´s nomination.
Similarly, the three NC parliamentraians proposing the name of Ghimire are Narahari Acharya, Deep Kumar Upadhayay, and Radhe Shyam Adhikari while Purna Bahadur Khadka, Ram Saroj Yadav and Dhyan Govind Ranjit supported it.
The election is scheduled to take place at NC PP office at 2 p.m. Saturday. The NC parliamentarians are to choose chair, vice-chair and 17 other members of its PP board.
A contestant has to secure more than 50 per cent of the 114 NC members in the Constituent Assembly cum Legislature-Parliament.
