Due to easy availability of human resources, low risk factor and possibility of immediate returns, around a dozen cooperatives in the village development committees (VDCs) including Resh, Damek, Dhamja, Tangram, Dangatundanda, Paiyuthanthap have recently taken to community animal farming. This has helped the locals improve their financial status. As a result of growing interest in animal farming, some of the cooperatives have even bought lands start animal farming on their own.[break]
The Tindhara Professional Agriculture Cooperative (TPAC) in Jaidi VDC is currently involved in poultry and goat farming. According to TPAC president Badri Dhungana, they started poultry and goat farming with an investment of Rs 2.5 million. The cooperative has also brought 150 ropanis of land for livestock farming.
People are attracted toward animal and poultry farming as it starts giving returns in a short time, said Dr Dipa Diwali at District Veterinary Office. “People´s involvement in community animal farming through cooperative has increased in the district lately. We have provided various subsidies to around one dozen cooperatives in the district for animal farming,” said Diwali.
