Cooking oil factory catches fire

BIRGUNJ, July 6: A massive fire broke out at a cooking oil factory on early Saturday in Parwanipur, Birgunj.


The cooking oil industry, Sushil Banaspati Pvt. Ltd. has gutted in a fire. 


The fire that started at around 2.00 am was not put off until 10.00 am. Five fire engines were used to put off the fire, informed Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Chief District Officer, Parsa.

Fire engines from Birgunj metropolitan city, Pokhariya municipality, Jitpur-Simara sub-metropolitan city, Kalaiya sub-metropolitan city, and Nepal Oil Corporation were brought to douse the fire.


Security agencies and local residents have been trying to douse the fire.


According to DSP Ananta Ram Sharma, fifty-two police personnel, thirty-five armed police personnel along with twenty-two Nepal Army personnel were deployed to bring the fire under control.


According to a preliminary assessment, the factory caught fire due to the short circuit. An investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire and measure the damage caused by it.
