KATHMANDU, April 2: A contempt of court case has been filed against the Nepali Congress and its President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday.

Advocate Hari Prasad Mainali has registered the case at the Supreme Court on Sunday citing that the decision made by the party's central committee meeting regarding the verdict on IGP case was disrespect of the court.

The meeting of the central committee of the NC concluded the verdict as the intervention in the jurisdiction of the executive adding that the verdict was against the segregation of the power.

On March 21, the Supreme Court had revoked the government over the appointment of Jaya Bahadur Chand as the IGP of Nepal Police and had issued an order to appoint the competent contender to the highest post of the Nepal Police fulfilling the requirements as per the rule.

The Court has set Tuesday for the first hearing of the case.
