Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh submitted a contempt of court case against outgoing Justice KC, accusing him of flouting the code of conduct for judges in a recent interview with a daily newspaper.[break]
Justice KC, who is retiring after a week and is currently on leave, said in an interview with a daily newspaper that the SC did the wrong thing in issuing a verdict on the Constituent Assembly (CA) term extension.
"SC Justice Kalyan Shrestha shouldn´t have shared the special bench comprising five SC justices chaired by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi that passed the verdict on CA term extension," KC had said in the interview adding, "SC also did the wrong thing in not settling a writ petition [against CA term extension] on time.
The apex court should have settled the writ petition much earlier. When it handed down the verdict just before the May 28 deadline it was already too late. Who had obstructed the SC from settling the writ petition on time?"
The SC, however, did not register the case Tuesday. The SC registrar will decide on Wednesday whether to register the case.
KC had also questioned the competence of the SC justices. Stating that there is corruption within the SC, KC also questioned the transparency of SC justices and said they are unnecessarily enjoying double vehicle facilities.
