GAINDAKOT, Nawalparasi, June 10: The construction of Triveni-Dumkibas road of Nawalparasi is in limbo with no budgetary allocation by the government.

The road construction works have become uncertain with sheer ignorance on the part of the government; however track of the Triveni-Dumkibas road stretch has been already opened on the initiatives of locals some seven years ago. [break]

The road track that was opened as an alternative way to Daunnedanda road section along the East-West Highway is now getting dilapidated due to lack of proper protection, according to Road Users Committee.

A 22-kilometer long track was opened at the investment of local people, District Development Committee and Village Development Committee before seven years.

More than Rs. 15 million has been spent so far in the road, said Committee Secretary Suraj Konhar. The road will directly link tourism site Tribeni to the highway, which will also resolve the problem faced by locals to travel 60 kilometre to reach the highway via Bardaghat.

As Triveni-Dumkibas road section is shorter than that of the highway, it should be put on priority, said former Chairperson of Tribenisusta VDC, Tek Narayan Upadhyay.
