Construction of around 500 development projects halted in Banke

RANJHA, April 29: The construction of more than 500 infrastructure development projects has been affected due to the protests launched by contractors. 


Chairperson of the Association of Contractors, Banke, Tek Bahadur Khadka said that construction of small- and large-scale projects of around Rs 7 billion has been affected after the contractors halted construction activities demanding adjustment of price of construction materials.

The contractors have been staging a sit-in at the District Administration Office daily for the past few days. Budget expenditure is to be affected at the local level after the contractors halted the construction activities toward the end of the fiscal year. 


Senior vice-Chairperson of the association, Leelaraj Upadhyay shared that they have been compelled to launch the agitation after they could not carry out construction activities following an unexpected hike in the prices of construction materials. 


The contractors have been demanding a new price rate for construction materials in the district following the recent price hike of construction materials and petroleum products.
