NUWAKOT, Jan 28: CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said that parties have been keeping on efforts to form a consensus government.

Parties are trying to form a consensus government even though the deadline served by the President expired, he said today talking to reporters at Bidur, the district headquarters of Nuwakot.[break]

Sating that political consensus is required to promulgate the new constitution on time, he said that the major parties have also decided to follow the consensus path.

Chances of UML leading the new government are high, he said.

"The Maoist leadership is also acceptable. But the party´s commitment is required for this." He also said that the new prime minister will be finalised through the first round of the election scheduled for Feb. 4.
