Consecutive victories for APF, Police

TERHATHUM, April 1: Nepal Police Club and Nepal APF Club on Monday registered second consecutive wins in the 27th National Men´s Volleyball Tournament being held in Terhathum.



Nepal Police Club, which had defeated Nepal Army on Sunday, registered victory against Tribhuvan University (TU) on Monday and qualified for the semifinals. Police won the match 25-21, 25-19, 25-18. [break]



In the same group, Nepal Army thrashed Eastern Region 25-11, 25-8, 25-13. Eastern Region, which lost to TU on Sunday, has crashed out of the tournament. The second semifinalist form the group will be decided after the match between Nepal Army and TU to be held on Tuesday. The winner of the match will reach the semifinals.



Meanwhile, APF entered into the semifinals from another pool. APF, which had defeated Mid-western Region on Sunday, edged past Central Region 25-10, 25-16, 25-16 on Monday. Likewise, Far-western Region defeated Mid-western Region 25-18, 25-21, 25-16 in another match. Suffering second consecutive defeat, Mid-Western Region crashed out of the tournament.



Far-Western Region will take on APF on Tuesday while Central Region will take on Mid-Western in their last match in the group stage. The second semifinalist from the pool will be decided only after the completion of the last group-stage match.



According to Nepal Volleyball Association Vice-president Birendra Khadka, Western Region pulled out of the tournament as the team-bus met an accident in Hetauda on Sunday injuring four players.
