Conflict hit women facing citizenship problems

PATHARI, Morang, March 30: Speakers at an interaction here have said the women suffering a lot in conflict period were facing problems for not having citizenship certificates.

According to them, it has been difficult to provide citizenship to the conflict hit women.


At the interaction organized jointly by the Forum for Women, Law and Development, and the Working Women Journalists, central member of the CPN-UML, Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, said as the women have not citizenship certificates, so they could not make their legal struggle effective.

She requested the government to make public the number of people living without citizenships.

Similarly, Chief of the Office of Women and Children in the district, Maheshwori Bista said most of the women hit hard during the violence were the ones who have no citizenship certificates. RSS
