The message about Acharya’s death had mistakenly spread online after DSP Tapan Dahal warned the protestors saying, “Our colleague is critical, any untoward incident may happen if you do not move away.” However, Acharya was undergoing treatment, then.

Acharya sustained critical injuries in a clash that ensued after a troop of security personnel barged into the hospital where Dr KC’s supporters were staging a sit-in against the government's decision to airlift Dr KC.
