India hands over components for prefabricated steel bridges

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The Government of India has handed over the first batch of components of ten prefabricated steel bridges to the Government of Nepal.

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The Government of India has handed over the first batch of components of ten prefabricated steel bridges to the Government of Nepal.


Received following the request of the Government of Nepal, these bridges will help Nepal's reconstruction efforts to restore road connectivity that has been disrupted due to recent floods and landslides in the country.

According to the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the components worth more than Rs 380 million have been provided by the Government of India as grants. 


Devi Sahaya Meena, Consul General of the Consulate General of India in Birgunj, handed over the components to Chief District Officer of Parsa Dinesh Sagar Bhusal on Wednesday. 


In the past two days, India has also provided humanitarian assistance including more than 25 tons of relief materials comprising essential cleaning materials, medicines, life jackets, sleeping mats and bags, food items, inflatable rubber boats, blankets, chlorine tablets and water bottles to help the families affected by the natural disaster.
