KATHMANDU, May 30: A civil society member has filed a complaint with the Judicial Council against two judges who acquitted former minister and Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam and others allegedly involved in the Rautahat bomb blast case. The complaint accuses the two judges of the Janakpur High Court’s Birgunj bench, Khusiprasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan, of being biased in the acquittal of Alam and others.
Yubraj Paudel filed the complaint against the two judges demanding an investigation and appropriate action. He urges authorities to suspend the judges, warning that their continued service could affect the delivery of justice. He also called on the Judicial Council to review the judges’ past verdicts.
Earlier, the Rautahat District Court had slapped life terms on all four accused in the accidental bomb blast case and subsequent burning alive of injured workers.
